Programme Director for UEC Improvement and Transformation

The Programme Director for UEC Improvement and Transformation will provide the senior delivery leadership required to accelerate one of HHFT’s highest-priority programmes. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with dotted-line accountability to the Director of Transformation, the postholder will strengthen delivery grip, align cross-cutting workstreams and provide executive assurance that improvement is translating into safer care, better flow, improved staff experience, productivity and sustainable financial recovery.

The successful candidate will be expected to bring senior operational judgement, compassionate leadership and disciplined delivery focus to a complex and high-impact programme where sustained progress will make a direct difference to patients, staff and the wider Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working directly to the Chief Operating Officer, align operational performance, clinical pathway redesign, patient flow, workforce productivity, digital and data-enabled improvement, and financial recovery into a single, coherent delivery programme.
  • Operate with the authority, pace and judgement of a senior operational director, working across clinical, nursing, operational, corporate and system partners to deliver tangible improvements for patients, staff and the Trust.
  • Provide senior leadership to align workstreams focused on improving front-door access, ambulance handover, admission avoidance, non-admitted pathways, acute assessment, frailty, SDEC, discharge and ward flow, while delivering safe productivity and financial recovery benefits.
  • Strengthen accountability, resolve barriers and ensure that agreed improvement priorities translate into sustained operational and patient benefits.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Programme Focus

The programme is focused on:

  • Improving front-door access
  • Ambulance handover
  • Admission avoidance
  • Non-admitted pathways
  • Acute assessment
  • Frailty
  • SDEC

Complex Environment
