Vulnerable children in the UK need your help

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you’ll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Why Action for Children?

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It’s the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children’s lives.

A bit about the role

As a Programme Lead, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of vulnerable youth and lead the delivery of services. You’ll provide direct line management to our Practitioners (maximum 7) and nurture and develop effective relationships with colleagues, partner agencies, employers, and external stakeholders.

You will be leading the well-established Assessment and Therapy Team and our Outreach service. The Assessment and Therapy team has 2 workers who deliver packages of support to children and young people who have additional needs. The support is set up by the therapists such as speech and language, physio, OT. This is reviewed every few months by the therapists and the work takes place either in our Bayhead building, the family home or nursery and school.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
