Programme Leader (BSc Cyber Security)
Location: Home based
Contract Type: 12 months FTC
Your Role:
The Programme Leader is responsible for academic leadership and management of the BSc Cyber Security Professional degree apprenticeship programme. Working closely with the Associate Dean (NU Apprenticeship) and Module Tutors, the Programme Leader ensures that students experience excellence in the delivery of the programme and succeed to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a minimum of ‘meeting expectations’ in workshops to Degree Apprentices.
- Ensure all assignment marks are released on time and to the correct quality standards following the marking and moderation process.
- Prepare the Programme Leader's report prior to attending Programme Board Meetings &/or Student Rep meetings.
- Ensure any action points are followed-up and addressed prior to the next meeting.
- Respond to programme inbox queries daily (first response, within 24 hours), supported by your AD and HoL/s as necessary.
- Chair, minute, and track actions from the fortnightly Skills Coaches & Tutors meetings.
- Complete the annual university report within the given timeframe.
- Support with Academic Misconduct investigations as highlighted by the Quality team.
- Support the onboarding of new starters delivering on the programme, including new permanent staff, freelancers, wider QAL staff, and those who have not taught on the programme previously.
- Create additional programme materials, when necessary to support learners and tutors on the programme.
- Ensure the VLE is up-to-date and accurate.
- Actively collaborate with the Head of Level or the Associate Dean in managing the programme, including joint oversight of module setup, monitoring student progress via VLE, and maintaining academic and quality assurance standards in conjunction with the Head of Level.
- Uphold the University’s academic and quality assurance policies, ensuring these standards are consistently met across all levels of the programme, in line with QA’s internal processes and procedures.
- Establish and maintain clear, open communication channels between the Programme Leader, Module Leaders, and Head of Level to ensure the smooth operation of the programme.
- Hold regular joint meetings between the Programme Leader, Module Leaders, and Head of Level.

Your Experience:
- Excellent communication skills.
- A logical thinker, critical problem solver, and a passion to achieve.
- Ability to deliver practical and engaging teaching and learning sessions within cyber security.
- Knowledge and experience of delivering cyber security modules/content at university level.
- Industry experience within cyber security.
- Experience of leading a degree apprenticeship level/programme (desirable).
- Knowledge of Apprenticeships and work-based learning, or knowledge of Higher Education.
- Understanding of equity and diversity issues.
Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum of a master’s in a relevant field.
Desirable Qualifications:
- PhD or working towards one.
- A teaching qualification or a desire to obtain one, preferably Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
- Relevant cyber security qualifications.
