Job Summary
We are MHCLG
In response to the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire, the Government established the Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) Remediation Funds and the Building Safety Fund (BSF) to make sure high-rise buildings are safe – and people living in them feel safe – now and in the future. The ACM and BSF Programmes sit within the Remediation Portfolio which is part of the Government Major Project Portfolio. The Government has made over £5bn of funding available to building owners to enable them to undertake remediation of unsafe cladding on high rise buildings.
Job Description
As the Programme Management Officer your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the establishment of a new governance framework
- Providing secretariat and reporting functions, including for Programme Board and Operational Board meetings
- Programme and Portfolio reporting, including managing, monitoring and change control
- RAID management, monitoring, reporting, working with subject matter experts to identify, mitigate and manage programme risks, issues and dependencies, and escalating as appropriate
- Leading on commissioning updates from subject matter experts and team leaders to track milestones and activity
- Maintaining team and programme information management systems and supporting associated quality assurance processes
- Supporting programme and portfolio level evaluation, Lessons Learnt and benefits management
- Supporting project and programme planning, timelines and milestone management
- Leading on programme events and activities
Person specification
Essential Criteria
- Track record, knowledge and experience working in a PMO, project/programme environment
- Able to build productive relationships across the programme
- Qualification in one or more of the following areas:
- PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) Foundation
- APM (Association for Project Management) Project Fundamentals Qualification
- Managing Successful Programmes Foundation
- Agile Project Management Foundation
- Other Project Delivery Qualifications such as Lean Six Sigma; Change Management Qualifications; Management of Risk etc.

Salary and Benefits

Selection process details
Application and Selection
The application process will be split into 2 stages, testing the following Success Profiles:
Stage 1: Sift
Experience (Lead Element): How would you use your experience to help establish a new governance framework? (250 words)
Stage 2: Interview
- Behaviours: Managing a Quality Service, Making Effective Decisions.
- Experience: Experience questions will be based around the essential skills and criteria as listed in the job description.
- Strengths: The strength-based questions will require natural responses from the candidates.
Candidates will be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation, further details will be provided on invitation to interview.
Sift and Interview Dates
- Sifting is envisaged to take place the week commencing 19/10/2026
- Interviews are envisaged to take place the week commencing 09/11/2026 and are currently being held remotely via videocall. This could be subject to change.
