MERITUS are recruiting for a Programme Manager to join a leading systems integration and engineering business, leading the successful delivery of complex IT / OT programmes across the UK Energy Networks sector.

Programme Manager – Energy Networks / OT & IT

  • Location: STONE, STAFFORDSHIRE
  • Work Model: Hybrid (2-3 days per week on-site)
  • Salary: £NEG (ENQUIRE FOR DETAILS)

We're looking for an experienced Programme Manager with a strong background in complex engineering, energy or highly regulated environments to lead major programmes for some of the UK's leading energy network organisations. You'll provide strategic leadership across projects covering substation control and protection, operational cyber security, digital operations, applications and supporting infrastructure.

As a senior client interface, you'll build trusted stakeholder relationships while leading multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle, from opportunity development and FEED through design, testing, commissioning and operational handover.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex Energy Networks programmes and portfolios.
  • Act as a senior client interface, managing relationships, governance and programme performance.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, quality and project management.
  • Establish programme structures, delivery strategies, governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage programme scope, schedule, resources, risks, costs and commercial performance.
  • Work with commercial and QS teams on NEC3/NEC4 contracts, Early Warnings, Compensation Events and change control.
  • Ensure delivery meets safety, quality, regulatory and client requirements.
  • Lead risk management, forecasting and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to Project Managers and programme delivery teams.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across high-hazard operational environments.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • 10+ years' experience in project, programme or portfolio management.
  • Proven delivery experience within the energy, power, nuclear, defence or another highly regulated sector.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience leading complex, high-value multidisciplinary programmes.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
  • Excellent understanding of programme governance, risk, change control and financial forecasting.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing Project Managers and delivery teams.
  • Strong communication, analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience within UK Energy Networks, including transmission or distribution.
  • Knowledge of substation control and protection, operational technology, cyber security or digital systems.
  • Experience working with major energy network operators or EPC partners.
  • APM, PRINCE2, MSP, MoP or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Engineering or technical background.
