Programme Manager — Core Banking Modernisation (North)

Regional scope: UK / Channel Islands

Investec is modernising its core banking landscape, and we're looking for a Programme Manager to lead delivery of that change across the North region — the UK and Channel Islands. This is a central role in a major transformation: a three-year initiation to execution phase, followed by further multi-year platform evolution and enhancement, and part of our Global One Investec strategy. You'll join the Global Core Banking Programme, represent the North region within a global team, and take long-term ownership of programme delivery and change management for the region.

The programme is standing up operating models and ways of working that don't yet exist and this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who delivers, not just directs. You won't inherit a large team or an established PMO; you'll leverage global resources and, especially early on, personally drive much of the work yourself.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for assisting with prioritization, regular progress and status reporting on all assigned change delivery activities, as well as proactively identifying, reporting and managing all risks, issues and changes that may impact the initiatives outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Owning programme delivery and change management for the North region, keeping it aligned to the global programme and the Global One Investec strategy.
  • Building and maintaining programme and project plans yourself — and running the delivery mechanics: stand-ups, actions, documentation and chasing things to completion.
  • Proactively managing risks, issues, dependencies and changes, with clear, credible status reporting.
  • Holding the line on scope — preventing regional priorities from diverging from global ones, and pushing back on senior stakeholders when needed.
  • Building influence with senior leaders (CIOs, COOs, technology and business leaders, enterprise domain owners) through credibility rather than formal authority.
  • Collaborating across UK, Channel Islands and South African teams, SMEs and business-unit project managers to keep delivery moving.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across business, technical teams, multiple business units and jurisdictions
  • Ability to manage external vendor delivery and dependencies.
  • Strong leadership skills to aid teams to navigate a complex environment and find optimal solutions to achieve business outcomes

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven core banking migration / transformation experience
  • A credible, hands on programme manager who leads through delivery, not title, hierarchy or team size — and is genuinely comfortable getting hands-on.
  • Resilience and self-sufficiency: able to operate in ambiguity, work through resistance and political complexity, and maintain momentum without extensive support.
  • The confidence and gravitas to challenge senior stakeholders appropriately while keeping relationships strong — not a "yes person."
  • Solid SDLC / project lifecycle grounding across structured, agile and/or lean methods, with a recognised PM certification (PMI, Prince2 or equivalent).

Desirable experience

  • Strong UK market experience and fluency with UK stakeholder dynamics
  • A relevant degree, Agile certification, and broader banking and financial services experience.
