Role Overview

Events and experiences are an important driver of London’s economy and they shape the city’s global brand and reputation. This role sits in the Major Events & Experiences Team which attracts events and experiences to deliver additional economic benefit to the city and help put new destinations on the map. The Manager has responsibility for identifying and managing opportunities to attract new major events and experiences.

Key Tasks

Business development and account management

  • Contribute to the Major Event & Experiences pipeline, identifying and approaching strategically important accounts
  • Actively influence and progress the pipeline to win events and experience for London
  • Account manage pipeline, managing multiple external stakeholders and ensuring that our planning, budgeting and delivery maximises the opportunity for London and London’s narrative.
  • Provide advice on aspects of event and experience delivery including risk management; location choice, maximising social and economic benefits; marketing/PR; sponsorship; brand compliance; business planning and tendering processes.
    Outcome: qualified pipeline aligned to strategic priorities and strong conversion to win events and experiences for London

Proposition development and bidding

  • Support L&P’s contribution to pitch process, developing packages of city support to enhance bids.
  • Monitor city and worldwide developments in experiences, events, sport and cultural industries to identify opportunities and risks to current and future activities.
  • Identify potential opportunities to generate VIK to support the delivery of major events and experiences.
    Outcome: position London effectively to target accounts with a strong London proposition

Relationships and stakeholder management

  • Maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, private sector event organisers, rights owners, venues and sponsors, ensuring maximum support is gained for relevant major events. These include the GLA Culture and Major Sports Events teams.
  • Represent London & Partners by hosting guests, networking with partners, sponsors, VIPs and international federations.
    Outcome: Highly connected, reputable and influential individual and company profile in the events & experience ecosystems

Programme management

  • Maintenance of accurate records to ensure accurate reporting of projects.
  • Manage programme budgets including procurement and invoice process.
  • Effective internal and external communications
  • Any other reasonable duties as allocated by the line manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Programme management
  • Experience of working with a CRM system, preferably Salesforce.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project /task management system.
  • Experiential/event marketing experience desired but not essential
  • Experience of public events and activations in London involving multiple stakeholders desired but not essential.
  • Understanding of either Major Events or Experience ecosystem and operations
