Manufacturing Engineering Programme Manager

Location: Bristol
Work Type: Onsite
Grade: Management Level C

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Programme Manager in Defence MA&T, Bristol. They will report directly to the Chief of Manufacturing Engineering – Defence (UK & International). They will lead key projects across new product introduction, product transfer, digital systems and Business Improvement.

Depending on business needs they will either programme manage a large, complex and significant project or collection of smaller projects associated with significant business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define projects/programmes of work and deploy a work breakdown structures to deliver them.
  • Deliver programme milestones in line with agreed plans and budgets, using a range of programme management tools and techniques in line with the Programme Management Function good practice.
  • Ensure programme is adequately resourced with skilled personnel.
  • Support the development and task leadership of team members allocated to the programme, whether directly reporting or not.
  • Receive budget and if appropriate use and manage external agencies to conduct technical work.
  • Follow related programme frameworks (e.g. DMIP, PPAP, PMO Gates).
  • Use change control to correct deviation.
  • Working within an agreed risk framework, resolve and escalate issues as required.
  • Build lessons learnt back into the programme.
  • Apply technical judgement and data to ensure the programme meets business needs.
  • Manage the business case including determination of business benefit (tangible and intangible) and the measurement of actual benefits.
  • Report progress.
  • Obtain and manage sponsorship, stakeholder support and budget to deliver the agreed outcome.

Position Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified Engineer or Programme manager (UK minimum degree or other national equivalent, higher degree preferred).
  • A good understanding of products and manufacturing/assembly/MRO processes.
  • Experience in delivering change in a manufacturing/assembly/MRO environment.
