Stevenage with Hybrid Working

At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people.

At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible.

We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.

What you'll be doing

As our Programme Manager, you'll lead two strategically important transformation programmes that sit at the heart of the IET's future: Technology Firm Foundations and Member & Customer Experience.

These programmes are closely connected. One focuses on strengthening our technology foundations through platform simplification, modernisation, data, AI and automation. The other is focused on improving the experiences of our members and customers by creating simpler, more joined-up journeys across our services, systems and processes.

Working across both programmes, you'll bring a joined-up approach to planning, governance and delivery. You'll ensure priorities are aligned, dependencies are understood, and activity across multiple projects is coordinated to achieve the greatest organisational benefit. This is a broad transformation role that goes beyond technology delivery alone, bringing together people, processes, systems, service improvements and organisational change.

You'll work closely with project leads, subject matter experts, senior leaders, volunteers and governance groups to create a clear roadmap, maintain momentum and provide visibility of progress. You'll help teams navigate complexity, resolve challenges and ensure decisions are informed by a clear understanding of risks, opportunities and interdependencies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

A key part of the role will be building engagement and ownership across the organisation. You'll support colleagues through change, help embed new ways of working and ensure the benefits of transformation are realised over the long term. Along the way, you'll provide coaching and guidance to project leads, helping them deliver successfully while fostering a collaborative and accountable delivery culture.

A Little More About The Role

  • Lead the delivery of the Technology Firm Foundations and Member & Customer Experience programmes.
  • Develop and maintain a clear programme vision, roadmap and delivery approach.
  • Coordinate activity across multiple interconnected projects, workstreams and stakeholders.
  • Establish effective governance, reporting and programme controls.
  • Manage programme risks, issues, dependencies and resource planning.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, volunteers, leaders and subject matter experts across the IET.
  • Provide coaching, guidance and support to project leads and delivery teams.
  • Present programme updates, recommendations and insights to senior leaders, Trustees and governance groups.
  • Support organisational readiness, adoption and the embedding of new ways of working.
  • Ensure programme outcomes deliver measurable benefits for members, customers and the wider organisation.

A Little More About What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience delivering complex transformation programmes involving multiple interdependent projects.
  • Experience leading broad organisational change, not solely technology implementation programmes.
  • Strong programme planning, governance, reporting and delivery skills.
  • Ability to bring structure, clarity and focus to complex environments with competing priorities.
  • Experience managing programme risks, issues, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.
  • Confidence engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders and governance groups.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and support project managers and project leads.
  • Understanding of organisational change and change management approaches.
  • Relevant programme, project or portfolio management qualification, with experience of Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working within a membership, volunteer-led or not-for-profit organisation would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
