The purpose of this role is to oversee the effective management of IT programmes, ensuring successful delivery of initiatives within time and cost constraints. This involves collaborating with senior stakeholders to shape programme roadmaps, manage project managers, and ensure alignment with business goals. The role also includes managing interdependencies, programme costs, financials, risks, and issue resolution from scoping through to embedding.

The Opportunity

QBE Europe is recruiting a business-facing programme manager to join our well-established technology services function, supporting our UK Insurance, Customer and Pricing team in our London office. The purpose of this role is to provide business partnering capability for our Customer Portfolio, ensuring that business requirements are captured and translated into a clear technology roadmap, whilst providing project management leadership and support, ensuring the successful execution of all assigned projects. This role involves taking full responsibility for defining, documenting, and delivering complex programmes and projects, whilst managing resources, costs, and stakeholder expectations effectively.

Your new role

  • Build strong, strategic relationships with our colleagues in the Business, understand their requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
  • Effectively lead and support programmes and projects to achieve defined business outcomes.
  • Effectively lead and support a team of project managers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business leaders and ensure the effective flow of communication between the business and Technology, Architecture and Data teams.
  • Deliver effective decision-making by analysing complex operational and financial information.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and leadership to drive results and manage risks.
  • Manage relationships with all project stakeholders to achieve project initiatives on time and on budget.
  • Develop comprehensive communication plans and manage project communication with key stakeholders.
  • Attract, select, develop, motivate, train, and retain a high-quality workforce to deliver excellent outcomes and customer service.
  • Build clear plans to deliver business outcomes.
  • Work effectively with internal delivery teams and external vendors to deliver projects.
  • Make a clear connection between the project activities and business benefits.

About You

  • Extensive programme management experience in a change function with demonstrable and consistent career progression through project management channels.
  • General Insurance experience necessary, preferably in the UK Commercial/SME space (London Market not specifically required).
  • Strong business partnering skills with a proven ability to build stakeholder relationships, influence outcomes, align priorities, and drive delivery through collaboration, ideally in the Customer Relationship Management space.
  • Proven experience delivering complex Salesforce-enabled business change, managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to implement scalable solutions and realise business benefits.
  • Experience of working with Data teams and overcoming complex data-related issues.
  • Experience of leading multiple concurrent IT workstreams within larger business transformation programmes.
  • Experience of project management methodologies, (APM, Prince 2 etc), RAID management, financial and budget management.
  • Management of external contractors and vendors to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Proven communicator with excellent people management experience.
  • Experience of working closely with architecture practice to ensure designs agreed align to desired business outcomes.
  • Experience developing and presenting business cases and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • In-depth experience leading teams or practices, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify and initiate process / continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and put strategies in place to deliver complex business outcomes.
  • Driven and focused with an innate ability to get the job done.
