As we shape the next chapter of our growth, we're reimagining what a modern, relationship-led bank can be. This is a rare opportunity to join a business that is thinking boldly about its future, challenging traditional ways of working and creating the foundations for long-term success. We're looking for people who are energised by ambition, excited by possibility and motivated by the opportunity to help shape what comes next.
As our Senior Transformation Programme Director, you will turn ambition into delivery, bringing together senior leaders, strategic partners and cross-functional teams to modernise how Metro Bank serves, operates and grows.
What You Will Do
- Lead the transformation programme, setting up the delivery rhythm, governance, controls and ways of working needed to move at pace.
- Act as the senior integrator across technology, data, AI, operations, risk, finance, people and business teams, making sure the programme delivers as one enterprise agenda.
- Shape and challenge delivery choices with ExCo, Board-level stakeholders and strategic partners, bringing clarity to complex trade-offs and decisions.
- Build a single, credible view of milestones, investment, risks, dependencies and benefits, ensuring leaders have the insight they need to act quickly.
- Create the conditions for delivery: clear ownership, strong prioritisation, disciplined execution and the freedom to design better customer and colleague experiences from the ground up.
- Ensure data, AI and technology capabilities are delivered securely, responsibly and in line with customer, conduct, resilience and regulatory expectations.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing programme team, creating a culture of pace, accountability, constructive challenge and responsible risk-taking.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Important Footnote
Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
