Opportunity for a Programme Quality Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Programme Quality Engineer to join the Quality department on a contract basis.

About the role

Assure the quality of product design and development programmes, from development through volume production.

  • Lead investigation and correction of nonconformities. Develop and report quality KPIs to business leadership.
  • Aligns quality objectives with programme and corporate goals.
  • Interprets complex data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Drives innovation and process enhancement within delivery environments.

What you will do

  • Establish and maintain a Programme Quality Management Plan (PQMP) aligned with ISO 9001.
  • Act as the central Point of Contact (PoC) for all quality activities within the development programme.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Programme Management to ensure quality requirements are embedded and met.
  • Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure supplier quality activities delivered to ensure conformance to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures quality deliverable readiness at each programme milestone and prepare documentation for customer and internal gate reviews.
  • Root cause analysis, resolution, and implementation of effective corrective actions for issues identified during development and early production including CAPA implementation.
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics and KPIs, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance to existing company Systems and Procedures and support development of process, system and tools compliant with ISO9001.
  • Maintain NPCS (APQP) Quality Compliance for all project phases through to series production and ensure lessons learned has been incorporated.
  • Provide directional guidance during Design, DFM, PFMEA and Control Plan reviews.
  • Ensure that all the requirements PPAP are documented, maintained, reviewed and meet Customer expectations.
  • Provide relevant quality data for new projects / team members.
  • Manage and deliver a seamless handover of Projects to the Operational team.

About you

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in quality or assurance roles in engineering and manufacturing programmes.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of cross functional communication skills.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 QMS implementation and management.
  • Supplier QA, inspection, and test planning in renewables or manufacturing.
  • Experience with digital quality tools and analytics.
  • Knowledge and application of NPCS (APQP), PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and Control Plans.
  • Exposure delivering products from concept to SOP and beyond.
  • Familiarity with product design and development tools such as DVP&R, CAD data reviews, and design validation testing.

Desirable:

  • Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001).
  • Knowledge of Fortescue Zero standards and governance systems.
  • Exposure to battery or mobility technologies.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality systems.
  • Exposure to customer-specific quality requirements (e.g., OEM quality systems or audits).
  • Experience of Contracting Manufacturing.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in automotive, electric vehicle (EV), green energy, or heavy vehicle industries.
