Location: Barking
Working Pattern: Hybrid (typically 3 days office-based, 2 days working from home)
Rate: £22.54 per hour PAYE / £29.42 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Temporary
Join a High-Profile SEND Transformation Programme
We are recruiting for an experienced Programme Support Officer to support the delivery of a significant SEND Reform Programme, helping to improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a major transformation programme, supporting the implementation of the Council's new Experts at Hand model. Working across multiple workstreams and partner organisations, you will provide comprehensive programme management support, ensuring effective governance, reporting, planning and stakeholder engagement activities are delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the SEND Reform Programme and associated transformation projects.
- Coordinate programme governance arrangements, including boards, steering groups, workshops and working groups.
- Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, action logs and decision trackers.
- Monitor programme milestones, risks, issues, dependencies and benefits.
- Maintain programme plans, risk registers, action logs and reporting mechanisms.
- Support the production of reports for senior leadership teams, governance boards and external assurance processes.
- Collect, analyse and present programme information to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
- Assist with programme communications and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Work closely with operational managers, schools, health partners and other key stakeholders.
- Support workshops, engagement sessions and co-production activities involving families and partner organisations.
- Contribute to benefits realisation, programme evaluation and performance reporting.
- Support procurement, financial monitoring and contract management activities where required.
- Ensure programme records are maintained in line with information governance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve programme management processes and operational efficiency.

About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Previous experience supporting programmes, projects or transformation initiatives within a public sector environment.
- Strong organisational and administration skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience coordinating meetings, managing action trackers and producing reports.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data, spreadsheets and performance information.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience within local government, education, SEND or children's services would be advantageous.
