Programme Support Tutor
The School of Psychology is looking for an organised, proactive, and student-focused Programme Support Tutor to join our team.
This is a varied role that sits at the heart of our programme delivery, working closely with the Head of School, Associate Heads, and Programme Coordinators to ensure our programmes run smoothly and our students receive a positive and supportive experience.
You'll provide a combination of programme administration, student support, and teaching and learning support. From helping with admissions and recruitment activities to coordinating timetables and academic calendars, supporting assessment and learning resources, and responding to issues that affect the student experience, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation and continued development of our programmes.
There will also be opportunities to contribute to teaching, provide cover when required, and support students with their studies, assessments, and progression.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll Have a Broad and Varied Remit, Including
- Supporting recruitment, selection, and admissions activity, including Open Days and Visit Days.
- Working with Programme Coordinators and Associate Heads to support effective timetabling and programme scheduling.
- Helping to develop and maintain programme calendars, assessment dates, and other key activities.
- Supporting the development and organisation of learning resources and teaching materials.
- Contributing to the development of assessments and exam materials as directed by academic colleagues.
- Supporting alternative teaching arrangements when staff absence affects programme delivery.
- Using a range of creative and engaging teaching approaches, including online and blended learning, when delivering teaching.
- Supporting students to understand assessment requirements, prepare for examinations, and develop their academic and transferable skills.
- Providing advice and guidance to students, referring them to specialist University services where appropriate.
- Analysing attendance and performance data and using this to help improve student engagement, retention, performance, and progression.
- Producing reports and information for Programme Leaders, Programme Committees, and senior colleagues.
- Supporting student induction and transition into higher education.
- Coordinating student events and initiating projects in response to identified needs.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the University, including Student Services, the Students' Union, Library, IT, and programme administration teams.

About You
We're looking for someone who is confident working with both academic colleagues and students and who can manage a varied workload with initiative and enthusiasm.
You'll need excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly both verbally and in writing. You'll be able to work independently while also being a strong team player, and you'll have the judgement and creativity to respond effectively when programme or student issues arise.
You'll have experience of supporting programmes in a higher education environment, together with knowledge of University systems and processes. Experience of teaching, student support, scheduling, or working with online and blended learning would be an advantage.

A degree or equivalent qualification, together with evidence of continuing professional development, is essential.
