We're currently looking for an experienced Progress OpenEdge (4GL) Developer to join a long-standing team supporting a major global investment banking client.

This is an opportunity to work on regulatory reporting solutions within the securities domain, contributing to the development and support of approximately 25 business-critical systems built on the Progress OpenEdge platform. The team is well-established and highly regarded, providing a collaborative environment where technical excellence, autonomy, and continuous improvement are actively encouraged.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and maintaining Progress OpenEdge (4GL) applications supporting regulatory reporting processes
  • Supporting and enhancing multiple systems within the securities and investment banking space
  • Automating operational processes using Bash scripting
  • Performing administration and support activities across the OpenEdge environment
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring platform stability
  • Collaborating with developers, support teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions

What we're looking for

  • Strong commercial experience with Progress 4GL / OpenEdge development
  • Solid Bash scripting skills
  • Experience performing system administration tasks within a Progress OpenEdge environment
  • Good understanding of system monitoring, troubleshooting, networking, and performance analysis
  • Experience working with Red Hat Linux
  • Knowledge of shell commands, process control, and file management
  • Experience with GitLab or other version control and deployment tools
  • Understanding of security principles and access control management
