An award-winning social enterprise | 1,000+ Londoners supported
Some people just need one person who believes in them and won't let them drift. That's this job. You'll hold a caseload of 30-35 Londoners and support them, practically and emotionally, to achieve their goals: into work, an apprenticeship or learning that lasts.
A bit about us
WYK is an award-winning social enterprise. We've already helped more than 1,000 Londoners take their next step, and through the Mayor's London Talent Pathways programme we're reaching the next wave: people who have the potential but not yet the way in, whether that's a gap on the CV, a knock to their confidence, or a barrier no one's helped them shift. You're the person who makes that personal, one learner, one plan, one breakthrough at a time.
The shape of the role
This is first and foremost a people facing role. Roughly half your time is pastoral, building trust and keeping people going. Around 40% is helping people progress toward their goals, and about 10% is ensuring admin and record keeping is all up to date.
Being there for learners (the core of the role)
- Get to know each learner properly: their goals, their situation and what's really getting in the way, and agree a personal plan together.
- Be their consistent, reliable point of contact throughout their time with us, with regular one-to-one check-ins face-to-face and online.
- Build confidence, motivation and resilience, and hold people steady through wobbles, knock-backs and life getting in the way.
- Notice when someone's slipping: chase up the no-shows, reach out to the ones who've gone quiet, and re-motivate those ready to give up on themselves.
- Spot and help remove barriers, whether practical (money, childcare, travel) or personal, and signpost to specialist support such as housing, mental health or debt advice when it's beyond your remit.
- Champion each learner's wellbeing and keep them safe, following our safeguarding approach whenever something bigger comes up.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Helping people move forward (progression)

- Help people set goals and take real steps toward work, an apprenticeship or further learning, and keep the plan moving.
- Support the practical side of getting there, such as CVs, applications and interview preparation, building the skills rather than doing it for them.
- Celebrate progress and milestones, however small, and help each learner see how far they've come.
