Project Accountant
W&A is partnering with an innovative business operating in the advanced manufacturing and technology sector to recruit a Project Accountant for its Glasgow team. Working on technically complex projects in a highly specialised environment, the business offers an interesting setting for a commercially minded finance professional.
This is an opportunity for someone looking to move beyond traditional reporting, work closely with operational and project teams, and play a meaningful role in commercial decision-making.
Location: Glasgow
Working Arrangements: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will take ownership of financial performance across a portfolio of projects, working closely with Project Managers to provide the analysis and commercial insight needed to support effective decision-making.
You'll play an important role in understanding project costs, forecasting financial outcomes and identifying opportunities to improve profitability. Alongside this, you'll contribute to month-end reporting, financial controls and improvements to existing processes.
This would suit someone with a strong management accounting background who enjoys understanding how a business operates and wants to develop their commercial involvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
