Norwich - 6 Month Contract - Full Time
Background
We are seeking a Project Accountant, who will report to the Head of Finance. This role will manage and work directly on a finance transformation project for a Group company. This will include leading and working hands on to prepare all financial data, ensuring all ledgers are clean and ready for migration. Then taking a leading role to ensure the efficient migration to our Group accounting system. This role will ensure that our financial records remain accurate during the transition and that the new systems are implemented to deliver more efficient processes and an insight-driven future.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the review, reconciliation, and cleansing of historical financial data to ensure accuracy before migration.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies in ledgers, assisting with processing or query resolution as required.
- Collaborate with wider Group finance, IT, and operational teams to map existing data structures and requirements to the new system.
- Prepare and propose new process maps and implement approved financial processes ensuring improved financial controls and reporting in the new systems.
- Support the configuration, testing, and validation of the new accounting/EPOS systems.
- Maintain and organise any project documentation, including data migration plans, reconciliation reports, and process notes.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on new processes and system functionality.

Key Skills & Knowledge
- Strong Excel skills (data filters, formulas, pivot tables and lookups).
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to spot and resolve exceptions quickly.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for liaising with customers, suppliers, colleagues, and both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP.

Experience
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in project accounting, ideally within a finance system migration context.
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience working as part of a team and supporting others in delivering a shared service.
