PROJECT ACCOUNTANT – RENEWABLE ENERGY
Chester | 4 Days Office / 1 Day Home | Permanent | International Business
£65,000–£75,000 + Bonus & Benefits
Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys getting close to projects, operations and the commercial side of a business?
Do you like building things rather than simply inheriting someone else’s processes?
We Do Group are partnering with a fast-growing international business operating within the Offshore Wind & Renewable Energy sector to recruit a newly created Project Accountant.
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth, with the chance to build their project finance and reporting processes from the ground up.
About This Business
The business operates across the global offshore wind industry, delivering complex project work for clients throughout the lifecycle of offshore wind projects.
They have entities across the UK, US, Poland and Taiwan, with projects spanning multiple international locations. The finance function is developing alongside the wider business, creating plenty of opportunity for someone to come in, make improvements and genuinely shape how things are done.
The Role!
This isn't a role where you're walking into perfectly established processes and simply keeping them ticking over.
You'll be responsible for helping build the project finance infrastructure from scratch, working closely with the Group Financial Controller, Project Managers and the commercial/bid teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
There’s a really good blend of project accounting, commercial finance, business partnering, reporting and process improvement.
You'll be responsible for:
- Building project-level reporting across the business
- Budget vs actuals and forecast-to-completion reporting
- Producing monthly project P&Ls with meaningful commercial commentary
- WIP calculations and project-level revenue recognition
- Monitoring project costs, margins, variances and commercial risks
- Purchase order controls and subcontractor cost tracking
- Project close-out analysis and feeding learnings into future projects
- Partnering with Project Managers across the UK and internationally
- Challenging and supporting operational teams around costs, resources and scope changes
- Supporting bids, tenders, pricing and project cost models
- Pressure-testing margins and commercial assumptions
- Improving systems, reporting and processes as the business continues to grow
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys being more than just the person producing the numbers.
You'll need to be comfortable working directly with Project Managers and operational teams, understanding what's happening on projects and translating that into meaningful financial information.
Equally, you'll need the confidence to challenge when something doesn't look right.
You'll be joining a growing environment, so we're looking for someone who likes creating structure, improving processes and figuring things out rather than needing everything to already be in place.
