Technically Strong Project Accountant - 6 months - £450-500/day umbrella
I'm working with a Financial Services business undergoing an exciting PE carve out transformation. This transformation has created a level of work underpinning the need for an extra pair of hands to assist in the set up and transformation of the finance function.
The finance function is building out its core infrastructure from scratch following a migration from a larger parent structure. We need an experienced Accountant to step in, steady the ship, and help establish a robust, scalable month-end closing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Close: Take ownership of establishing a reliable month-end cadence, working to streamline procedures down to a targeted 5-day close.
- Process Improvement & Automation: Reduce heavy reliance on manual Excel models by integrating proprietary revenue systems and core Microsoft ERP functions with Power BI.
- Financial Reporting & Consolidations: Manage basic multi-entity consolidations (holding co structure and operating entities).
- System Optimization: Assist in configuring existing Microsoft ERP tech and refining general ledger structures following the initial separation.
- Ad-Hoc PE Demands: Collaborate with leadership (Head of Finance and Senior Finance Team) to handle fast-turnaround requests from board members and private equity investors.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
