Project Accountant - Finance Business Partner
London | 5 days in office | Creative & Design Sector
Inside IR35 - 6 Months
Rate: up to £500 P/D DOE
If you're a qualified accountant who enjoys being close to projects, understanding commercial performance and helping teams make better financial decisions, this role offers the opportunity to have a real impact across a project-led business.
We're partnering with a globally recognised creative business to recruit a Project Accountant to support project performance, improve financial visibility and provide commercial insight throughout the project lifecycle.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of FP&A, you'll provide financial support across project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and performance analysis.
You'll work closely with project teams and senior stakeholders to understand financial performance, monitor profitability, challenge assumptions with data and support informed decision-making across a portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with project teams and leadership to provide commercial insight and financial guidance.
- Produce monthly management accounts, dashboards and project performance reporting.
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Analyse project performance, explain variances and provide practical recommendations.
- Monitor project profitability, resource planning and financial scenarios.
- Manage project accounting, fee invoicing and revenue recognition.
- Review WIP, project costs, debtors and cash collection.
- Support the continued rollout and optimisation of Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls and finance processes.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Operations and project teams.

About You
You'll be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with experience in project accounting, commercial finance or supporting operational teams with financial insight.
You'll ideally have worked within a project-based environment such as creative, design, engineering, consultancy, media, architecture or professional services.
We're looking for someone with:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Strong project accounting or commercial finance experience.
- Experience monitoring project profitability, WIP and cost performance.
- Budgeting and forecasting expertise.
- Advanced Excel skills (Power BI experience is beneficial).
- Strong analytical skills and commercial judgement.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience improving reporting, systems and finance processes.
- A proactive approach to supporting business performance.
