Project Accountant

Three Bridges Recruitment are recruiting for a Project Accountant to join a leading Scottish charity for an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. This is a key role within the Finance team, supporting a values-driven organisation dedicated to empowering people across Scotland to live meaningful & fulfilling lives.

Reporting to the Head of Finance

You will play a key role across several finance projects, with a particular focus on budgeting & forecasting, management accounts, restricted funds, reporting & financial modelling. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can quickly understand what is needed, take ownership of their work & add value from the outset.

Job

As Project Accountant, you will:

  • Work closely with the Head of Finance across a range of key finance activities & projects
  • Prepare & consolidate forecasts & budgets
  • Support the production of monthly management accounts alongside the Head of Finance
  • Set up & monitor the charity’s restricted funds
  • Interpret business reporting needs & develop financial reports, data analysis & operational KPIs
  • Provide financial insight to help ensure finance processes & outputs are understood, followed & responsive to the needs of the organisation
  • Develop & maintain costing & other financial models
  • Work with all colleagues to understand requirements & communicate information clearly
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting & processes
  • Manage competing priorities & deliver accurate work within tight deadlines

You

As Project Accountant, you will:

  • Bring strong technical & analytical skills with a proactive, collaborative approach
  • Have experience developed in a similar or equivalent finance role
  • Have strong budgeting, forecasting & management accounting experience
  • Have experience of systems optimisation & improving financial processes
  • Have practical experience applying accounting regulations
  • Be proficient in specialist financial systems & Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
  • Have experience working within a large or complex organisation
  • Be able to interpret complex financial information & communicate it in a clearly
  • Be highly motivated, adaptable & comfortable managing competing deadlines
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, with confidence to work with all stakeholders
  • Bring demonstrable negotiation & conflict resolution skills
  • Ideally have experience within the not-for-profit sector, although this is not essential
  • Be available to start as soon as possible & within four weeks
