The primary purpose of the IT Project & Change Manager role is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects ensuring that these are delivered within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management. This is a hands-on role, looking for a self-starter, with strong technical, project and change management understanding, being able to shape the IT project implementation approach to achieving the desired business outcomes through delivery.

- Define the overall delivery approach for each project, selecting Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methods as appropriate.
- Develop the delivery strategy, project plans, milestones, deliverables, resource requirements, timescales and cost estimates needed to achieve business outcomes.
- Lead execution of IT projects, coordinating internal and external meetings and ensuring effective day-to-day delivery management.
- Manage project scope, dependencies, risks, mitigations, quality planning, assurance, compliance and control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and control project budgets, managing expenditure within agreed spending plans and contributing to wider programme or portfolio risk management.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including shared services and third-party vendors, to ensure requirements are identified and integrated into delivery.
- Provide leadership, motivation, and coaching to project team members, junior project managers and business stakeholders to support effective delivery.

- Create and deliver change management plans and materials, including communications, training, coaching, sponsor roadmaps, and resistance management plans, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and third parties.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
