About the Company
Applied Geology Ltd specialises in the provision of geotechnical and contaminated land ground investigation and related consultancy services throughout the UK. Due to our continued growth and high workload, we are seeking to recruit at least three new Project (Main) Grade and Senior Grade Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineers across our two office locations in Warwick and Warrington.
Job Positions
Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist (Warwick)
We are seeking to recruit a full-time experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to work with our team of Geotechnical Engineers, Engineering Geologists and Environmental Specialists, in our head office in Warwick. You would support and drive the delivery of a diverse range of geotechnical and earthworks projects through predominantly technical consultancy work, supporting the Technical Director on project work, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior members of the team and managing your own projects as well as the team/workload in the absence of the Technical Director. Additionally, the role would involve some site-based investigation and earthworks support on technically or logistically complex works.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in the UK geotechnical investigation and consultancy sector.
- Specific experience in review of data and scheduling of geotechnical testing.
- Experience in foundation assessment, earthworks, slope stability assessment, retaining wall stability, ground improvement techniques, geotechnical report writing.
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the production of Earthworks Specifications, GDRs and GFRs.
- Knowledge of industry-specific, specialist software such as GEO5 is preferable.
- Prior experience of management of projects and/or junior staff is preferable.
- Appropriate geology-based first degree, preferably an MSc in a geotechnical related subject.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Status in a relevant discipline.
- Current UK driving licence required.

Project (main grade) Geotechnical Engineer (Warwick)
We are seeking to recruit a full-time Project Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to work with our team of Geotechnical Engineers, Engineering Geologists and Environmental Specialists, in our head office in Warwick. You would support the delivery of a diverse range of geotechnical and earthworks projects through a combination of site-based investigation and earthworks support, data review & assessment, factual reporting and technical consultancy work, supporting the Senior Engineers & Technical Director on project work.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the UK geotechnical investigation and consultancy sector.
- Experience in either ground investigation or consultancy business environments (preferably both).
- Specific experience in undertaking and supervising ground investigations works and soils and rock logging, scheduling of geotechnical testing, review and assessment of geotechnical test data.
- Understanding of foundation & earthworks assessment and ground improvement processes.
- Appropriate geology-based first degree and preferably an MSc in a geotechnical related subject.
- Current UK driving licence required.
Senior Geoenvironmental / Geotechnical Engineer (Lowton)
We are seeking to recruit a full-time experienced Senior Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer/Engineering Geologist to work with our team of Geotechnical Engineers, Engineering Geologists and Environmental Specialists, in our office in Lowton, Warrington. You would support and drive the delivery of a diverse range of geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigation and consultancy projects, supporting the Regional Director based in Lowton and Technical Directors based in Warwick, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior members of the team and managing your own projects as well as the team/workload in the absence of the Regional Director. Additionally, the role would involve some site-based investigation and earthworks support on technically or logistically complex works.

- Experience in foundation assessment, earthworks, geoenvironmental risk assessment and geotechnical/geoenvironmental report writing.
- Prior experience of management of projects, technical proposal writing and management of junior staff is preferable.
- Appropriate geology-based first degree, preferably an MSc in a geotechnical or geoenvironmental related subject.
- Current UK driving licence required.
Job Details
These permanent positions would be based in either our Warwick office or our Lowton (Warrington) and involve a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. A competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, would be offered. Twenty-five days holiday per year (+Bank Holidays), a contributory workplace pension scheme and life insurance cover are also provided. Training and development opportunities will be provided through in-house and external providers to ensure the continued technical and developmental growth of all staff.
