Mechanical Appointed Person – London Data Centre

Want to play a key role in the safe delivery of one of London's major data centre projects?

Looking to develop your career in a technically complex, mission-critical environment?

Crown House Technologies (CHt), part of the Laing O'Rourke Group, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Appointed Person to join our team on a major London Data Centre project.

Working within a fast-paced and highly technical environment, you'll play a critical role in ensuring mechanical systems are safely controlled throughout installation, commissioning and handover.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Acting as the Mechanical Appointed Person, overseeing the safe control and coordination of mechanical systems.
  • Managing mechanical isolations, permits and safe systems of work.
  • Reviewing RAMS, isolation strategies and technical documentation.
  • Coordinating closely with engineering, construction, commissioning and specialist subcontractor teams.
  • Supporting the safe commissioning, testing and handover of critical mechanical systems.
  • Ensuring works comply with relevant legislation, project procedures and company standards.
  • Identifying risks and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented.
  • Maintaining accurate permits, isolation records and associated documentation.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture across the project.

What we're looking for

  • Experience as a Mechanical Appointed Person or within a similar mechanical safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical isolations, permits and safe systems of work.
  • Experience within data centres, mission-critical environments, building services or complex engineering projects.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems and commissioning processes.
  • Confidence reviewing RAMS, isolation procedures and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple teams.
  • Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications and appropriate Appointed Person competency/training.
  • A proactive approach with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
