CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Protection Assistant (Child Protection) – Case Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) activities and taking the role of child protection case management supervisor to support the case worker’s technical competence and practice, promotes wellbeing and enables effective and supportive monitoring of child protection case management in accordance with interagency case management guideline, SCI Step to Protection and SoPs. Ensuring that positive outcomes are achieved for children and families through the delivery of competent, sensitive, and timely services, and that the SC’s mission and goals are accomplished.
- He/she will conduct regularly in case management coaching and supervision with case workers.
- He/she will work closely with Project Coordinator to ensure the effective delivery of all child protection activities and with the child protection team to ensure close links between case management, MHPSS, and our work with the community-level child protection mechanism.

Travel: Frequent (over 10 to 15 days per month)

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Program Implementation and Quality:
- Support case workers to implement case management, as per the Standard Operating Procedures and in alignment with the guiding principles and minimum standards of case management.
- Supports the case worker’s technical competence and practice, promotes wellbeing and enables effective and supportive monitoring of CP case management office; Individual Supervision on a weekly basis for 1 hour for each case worker, Facilitate Case Management team meetings weekly, Conduct case file review weekly.
- Monitor the documentation of cases through review of files and databases.
- Ensure confidentiality and that data protection and information-sharing protocols are respected. Review and analyze trends in the caseload to inform programming. Delegate tasks to caseworkers, taking into consideration, partner caseworkers’ profile (gender, language, and communication skills).
- Conduct caseworkers’ capacity assessment in line with the competency-based framework.
- Assist Project Coordinator and national Case Management advisor in developing capacity planning for caseworkers.
- Direct providing case management support to the high risk and complex individual cases where required and provide regular monitoring of all aspects of case management services.
- Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities, including trainings, shadowing/observation of other, more experienced supervisors, capacity assessments of caseworkers as per skills needed and identified in competency framework.
- Ensure access to material, logistical, and further technical support and set eligibility criteria for material and other support.
- Conduct regular support to project staff for MHPSS activities for children and adults.
- Ensure that case management team maintain an up-to-date service mapping for their geographical area.
- Provide briefings on child safeguarding and appropriate behavior with children to all case management staff. Ensure any concerns are reported and addressed immediately.
- Conduct assessments to identify children/families who may benefit from CVA/C4P.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring Cash Safety Plans and follow up actions.
- Coordinate with MEAL teams on PDM, data collection, and accountability mechanisms.
- Ensure proper documentation, confidentiality, and safe delivery of cash related activities.
- Any other duties and tasks assigned by the supervisor, including participation to emergency response interventions inside and outside of the duty area.
- Assist other emergency response.
- Preparation training/workshop checklist/developing agenda process/and relative function with supervisor and team members.
- Prepare monthly quarterly report of program including operations report.

Community and Interagency Coordination:
- Work with Community Social Workers (if available) and other key community members, service providers, stakeholders and NGOs to identify and safely refer children at risk.
- Maintain an up-to-date service mapping for the township in which she or he works.
- Ensure that project related information is relayed to the Project Coordinator.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal and external reporting.
Ensuring Quality Case Management and Monitoring:
- Work in a way that respects guiding principles defined in the SOPs.
- Fill in and use case management forms appropriately; registration, assessment, case plan, implementation, case notes for home visits and case review, and case closure.
Developing Self and Others (Peers):
- Participate in regular case management meetings with other case workers and supervisors.
- Prepare for and participate in regular structured individual supervision sessions with their supervisors, identifying challenges and areas for professional development.
- Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities, including formal trainings, shadowing/observation, case workers capacity assessments and skills identified in competency framework.
Child Safeguarding and Counter Fraud Responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social work, or related field.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in implementing child protection programming including Case Management.
- At least 2 -3 years in implementing and working with children and youth, at least 2 years experiences of Child Protection Case Management and humanitarian works.
- Shows ability to plan, schedule, and direct the work of self and others.
- High motivation to work under difficult circumstances and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to communicate a clear vision, motivation and commitment to the safety and well-being of case workers.
- Previous experience working for an NGO or other non-profit organization is preferable.
- Good interpersonal, communication skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible work attitude: the ability to work productively in a team environment & independently.
- Sets work schedules and caseload/workload standards that promote the effective and efficient use of staff and delivery of services.
