The Business

An exciting career opportunity has arisen within a successful manufacturer who support a range of global customers within the automotive, aerospace defence and industrial product sectors.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Group Procurement Manager and working within a team of Buyers, you will be responsible for the development and introduction of sourcing and category plans that will be designed to deliver a value for money supply base, with specific focus on cost, quality and delivery. Key duties include:

  • Identify potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term agreements
  • Develop and implement a strategic sourcing plan for material commodities considering market factors
  • Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Negotiate terms of business, competitive pricing and where applicable, service level agreements and performance expectations
  • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
  • Actively promote and champion the use of best practice to ensure compliance with the organisations policies and procedures
  • Evaluate designs with engineering, quality, and suppliers to obtain maximum efficiencies and best costs
  • Develop and report weekly KPI’s to measure progress against company goals
  • Understand market trends for owned commodity areas

The successful candidate will have demonstrable career experience and achievement in Purchasing with a proven skillset in negotiation, supplier evaluation, supplier management, cost breakdown and cost saving initiatives. You will have an analytical mindset and strong Excel skill set. Your career to date experience will ideally come from automotive, aerospace or transferable technical / industrial manufacturing environments and its beneficial if you are Degree educated and / or CIPS qualified, although not must have dependant on career to date experience.
