The Institute of Sport at Manchester Metropolitan University combines expertise from across the University to deliver research, innovation and partnerships that improve health, sport and human performance.

Working across all four Faculties, the Institute develops ambitious projects that strengthen research capability, build meaningful partnerships with business and the sporting sector, and deliver real-world impact. From creating new research and innovation centres to developing strategic partnerships and delivering high-profile national and international events, our work is varied, collaborative and forward-thinking.

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Project Co-ordinator to join our Business Engagement & Partnerships team. Reporting to the Head of Planning and Projects, you will play a key role in coordinating strategic projects, supporting their successful delivery and helping the Institute achieve its ambitious objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a wide range of people, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to build a career in project management within higher education.

About The Role

As Project Co-ordinator, you will provide essential coordination and administrative leadership across one or more strategic projects. You will work closely with academic colleagues, Professional Services teams, senior leaders and external partners to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on time and to a high standard.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Coordinating the day-to-day delivery of strategic projects and monitoring progress against key milestones.
  • Organising and supporting meetings, workshops, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Preparing project documentation, reports, presentations and committee papers.
  • Recording actions, risks, issues and decisions whilst maintaining accurate project documentation.
  • Monitoring project activity, budgets and timelines, raising issues where appropriate.
  • Supporting communication across project teams, Faculties and external partners.
  • Maintaining project records, systems and shared information to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Contributing to service improvements by developing efficient project processes and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing high-quality administrative support, including servicing project boards and formal meetings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
