About the Role
D W Windsor is looking for an experienced Project and Contracts Manager to oversee the successful delivery of sports lighting, high mast lighting and external lighting projects across the UK.
Managing projects from contract award through to final account, you will ensure that each scheme is completed safely, on programme, within budget and in accordance with all contractual requirements. This is a hands-on, commercially focused position with responsibility for multiple live projects, subcontractor performance and strong client relationships.
If you have a background in construction, infrastructure or electrical contracting and enjoy balancing project delivery with commercial and contractual management, this is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact.
What you’ll be doing
Project and contract management
- Manage projects from contract award through to completion and final account.
- Review contract documentation and identify commercial, contractual and delivery risks.
- Administer contracts in line with agreed terms and conditions.
- Manage variations, compensation events, change orders and extensions of time.
- Maintain accurate contractual notices, correspondence and project records.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, valuations, cash flow and commercial performance.
- Protect the company’s commercial position throughout every stage of delivery.

Subcontractor and supplier management
- Obtain and assess subcontractor quotations for tenders and project costings.
- Procure and appoint suitable installation, civil, electrical and traffic management subcontractors.
- Negotiate subcontract terms and agree clear scopes of work.
- Manage subcontractor performance against programme, quality, safety and commercial targets.
- Review payment applications and variation submissions.
- Resolve performance, quality and contractual issues quickly and effectively.
Project delivery
- Plan and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Allocate and coordinate internal teams, labour, materials, plant and subcontract resources.
- Attend site meetings, progress reviews and customer meetings.
- Monitor programmes and address delays, risks or resource issues.
- Ensure project handovers and completion documentation are delivered efficiently.
Health, safety and quality
- Ensure works comply with company procedures and current legislation.
- Prepare and provide RAMS and other required site documentation.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor quality standards.
- Manage defects, remedial works and customer concerns.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and accountability across project teams and subcontractors.
What we’re looking for
Essential experience
- Previous experience as a Contracts Manager, Project Manager or in a similar position within construction, infrastructure or electrical contracting.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple live projects.
- Strong commercial awareness and cost-management capability.
- A practical understanding of construction contracts and contract administration.
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT and bespoke client contracts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
- The ability to build effective relationships with clients, principal contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
- A valid ECS or CSCS card.

Desirable experience
- Experience in sports lighting, street lighting, high mast lighting, external lighting or associated infrastructure.
- An SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- Knowledge of the CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities.
- Relevant contract law knowledge or training.
- An 18th Edition qualification.
