Wood in Sunbury on Thames is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join the Project Controls team.

This role will develop, automate and continuously improve digital performance management solutions, including Power BI dashboards, data models, automated reporting workflows and leadership-ready performance insights. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, senior management and internal and external stakeholders to improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of project reporting.

The Role

The role will design, build and maintain digital performance management solutions that improve project reporting quality, reduce manual effort, strengthen data governance and provide actionable insights for project leadership.

This is an opportunity to play a visible role in shaping the digital performance management culture of a major programme. You will work at the centre of Project Controls, partnering with delivery teams and leadership to improve reporting quality, automate manual processes, strengthen data confidence and provide insights that support better project decision-making.

Responsibilities

The key objectives for this role are:

  • Develop end-to-end digital performance management solutions, including dashboards, automated reports and visual performance packs
  • Leverage advanced data modelling, PowerBI, DAX, Power Query, and automation techniques to improve the quality, scalability, and efficiency of performance reporting
  • Create clear dashboards, visual reports and leadership-ready slide packs from complex data
  • Identify, develop, and implement innovative digital solutions that enhance performance management processes, improve reporting efficiency, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain the project end-to-end data model and analytics framework
  • Establish automation and governance for data ingestion, transformation and reporting
  • Provide technical support for data ingestion, reporting failures and issue resolution
  • Engage with project teams, senior management and internal and external stakeholders to improve reporting processes
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve digital performance management, dashboards and reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimisation of data, reporting and automation processes

Expected

  • Strong experience developing Power BI dashboards, data models and visual reports
  • Proficiency in Power BI, DAX, Power Automate and data transformation
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve reporting efficiency, automation and insight generation
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear performance insights and recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-driven, highly organised and able to follow through on deliverables
  • Proactive, curious and committed to improving reporting processes
  • Experience in project controls, PMO, project reporting or digital analytics
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Understanding of SAP and Microsoft platforms
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
