Job Title: Project Controls Manager (Permanent Staff)
Location: Central London
Hybrid: 2/3 days in office, 2 days from home and once a month trip to Suffolk Site
Requirements: BPSS Clearance, Civils or Nuclear background.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead and oversee all project controls functions across major capital projects within the nuclear sector. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring robust planning, cost control, risk management, performance reporting, and governance across complex, large-scale programmes.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering major infrastructure or engineering projects within highly regulated environments, alongside strong experience within the nuclear industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the project controls function across major nuclear or infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and client requirements.
- Manage and integrate planning, cost control, risk management, change control, and reporting activities.
- Develop and implement project controls processes, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of integrated master schedules and cost forecasts.
- Provide accurate performance reporting, including progress measurement, Earned Value Management (EVM), and KPI tracking.
- Conduct schedule and cost risk analysis, identifying trends, issues, and mitigation strategies.
- Support senior leadership with strategic programme insights and recommendations.
- Ensure effective management of change control processes and assessment of programme impacts.
- Lead project controls meetings, reviews, and stakeholder reporting sessions.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and supply chain partners to maintain consistency and transparency across project controls activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop project controls teams across multiple disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and quality standards within the nuclear environment.

Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in a Project Controls Manager or senior project controls position on large-scale, complex capital projects.
- Strong experience within the nuclear sector is essential.
- Proven background delivering major infrastructure, engineering, construction, or energy projects.
- Extensive knowledge of planning, scheduling, cost management, risk management, and performance reporting.
- Experience managing integrated project controls functions across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Earned Value Management (EVM) and project performance metrics.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments and established governance frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrable leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficiency with project controls and planning software, including Primavera P6, ASTAPowerproject, and cost management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.

Desirable Requirements
- Experience working on major nuclear new-build, decommissioning, defence, or infrastructure programmes.
- Relevant professional qualifications in Project Controls, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as the APM, Association for Project Controls (APC), or similar.
