MOD Contract Opportunities | Bristol
We are recruiting for a number of current Project Controller contract vacancies supporting MOD programmes around Bristol.
New requirements are released regularly through an established MOD delivery framework, with additional vacancies added most weeks. The individual programme or defence domain can change, although the core Project Controls capability remains broadly consistent.
These roles offer the chance to work directly within MOD delivery environments where Project Controls has a genuine part in understanding performance and supporting project decisions. Contract lengths vary by assignment and extensions are common, with many people remaining on assignments beyond the initial contract period.
Essential eligibility
There are some firm requirements across these vacancies. You must:
- Be a sole British national
- Already hold current SC clearance
- Have a strong UK defence or MOD-facing background
- Be able to work in Bristol around 3 days per week
- Live within a realistic commuting distance as routine travel to Bristol is not expensed
- Be comfortable working on an inside IR35 contract

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A Project Controller title on its own is not enough. These roles are unlikely to suit candidates whose experience is mainly PMO administration, meeting support, report collation or chasing actions without wider Project Controls depth.
Some vacancies may ask for additional experience within a particular defence domain such as air, maritime, land, digital or infrastructure. These requirements vary as new roles are released.
Experience within MOD, DE&S or a closely related UK defence environment is particularly relevant. Experience with EVM, planning, cost control or project risk can also be valuable depending on the individual requirement.
About the vacancies
These are current MOD contract opportunities rather than one single project vacancy.
New Project Controls requirements are released regularly and the programme, domain and specific controls emphasis can change as further vacancies are added.
If your background matches the core requirements above, apply. I will review your experience against the current vacancies and contact you.
