- Define and control the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB): You'll be responsible for setting the project's baseline in terms of scope, cost, and schedule, and then continuously managing the governance control of these elements.

This will ensure relevant, accurate, and reliable information on the project's status and forecast, enabling project and programme managers to make informed decisions and present an accurate view of the project's standing.

- Validate project success: You'll gather independent evidence to provide confidence that the project is likely to achieve its success criteria.
- Integrate project control toolsets: You'll ensure the integration and alignment of project control toolsets, including across contract partnerships and relevant sub-suppliers where necessary.
- Deputise for the Project Manager: You'll step in for the Project Manager as required, ensuring continuity.
- Establish and analyse Earned Value Management (EVM): You'll set up a reliable and accurate Earned Value Management (EVM) system, then continuously generate and interrogate earned value reports. This will ensure reporting is completed in accordance with the contract and enable project and/or programme managers to make informed decisions.
- Implement ongoing risk management: You'll establish and manage a continuous and regular risk management process throughout the team, including risk reporting and schedule risk analysis in line with the contract.
- Support Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR): You'll support Integrated Baseline Reviews (potentially with customer stakeholders) as needed to build confidence in the Performance Measurement Baseline.
- Mentor and develop staff: You'll develop and mentor staff to ensure robust succession planning is in place.
- Maintain key project documentation: You'll ensure all key project control documentation is meticulously maintained and updated as necessary.
- Ensure effective configuration control: You'll guarantee that effective configuration control is consistently maintained at all times.
- Provide progress and metrics reports: You'll furnish weekly and monthly Project Progress and Metrics Reports as appropriate for the project.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
