Project Controls Specialist

Salary: £45,000–£60,000 + Cash Allowance + Benefits

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working within a collaborative project environment, you will provide effective project controls across planning, scheduling, cost, risk and performance, helping project teams maintain control of complex programmes and deliver against key milestones.

This role would suit an experienced project controls professional looking to broaden their exposure to major projects, take on greater responsibility and continue developing their career within a growing environment.

The Role

As a Project Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring project controls throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining effective project controls processes, systems and reporting
  • Creating, monitoring and updating project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
  • Monitoring progress against baselines, milestones and delivery programmes
  • Identifying schedule variances, trends and potential delays and supporting appropriate corrective actions
  • Monitoring project budgets, forecasts and cost performance
  • Supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) and project performance measurement
  • Identifying project risks and opportunities and supporting mitigation strategies
  • Producing accurate reports covering schedule, cost, risk and overall project performance
  • Providing clear project data and insight to project managers and senior stakeholders
  • Working closely with clients, project teams, contractors and delivery partners
  • Supporting resource planning, forecasting and change control
  • Ensuring project controls activities comply with company procedures, client requirements and relevant industry standards

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • 3+ years’ experience within Project Controls, Planning, Cost Control or a related discipline
  • Experience within infrastructure, engineering, construction or major project environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
  • Good understanding of project planning, scheduling, forecasting and cost management
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance reporting
  • Understanding of project risk and change control
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret project data and identify trends and variances
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • A proactive and organised approach to working within complex project environments

A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
