Project Coordinator - Health Policy Team

Reporting To

Senior Policy and Research Manager (Health)

Location

Westminster, London (hybrid working – minimum 1 day per week in the office during the probationary period)

Salary

£26,936-£32,000 depending on experience and pro-rated to the hours of work

Hours

Part-time, 17.5 hours per week (0.5 of a full-time role). We do not have a fixed working pattern but have a preference for hours to be allocated between Monday and Thursday. We promote flexible working arrangements.

Contract

Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with a 3-month probationary period. Possibility to extend the contract or convert it into a permanent contract at the end of the 12-month period. Potential to lead to a full-time position.

The Role Holder Will Focus On

  • Organising and delivering policy events and meetings in Parliament: Including researching topics, identifying and liaising with speakers and attendees managing RSVPs, booking rooms, preparing background briefings, supporting event delivery, and producing post-event write-ups summaries and outcomes papers.
  • Contributing to the development of our health policy agenda: Undertaking desk research and supporting policy projects across areas including primary care, the NHS workforce, social care and integration, mental health, women’s health, health inequalities, nutrition, and AI and health.
  • Leading the Health team’s policy and political monitoring: Keeping on top of a broad and fast-moving health policy landscape and proactively identifying and responding to relevant government announcements, parliamentary activity and questions, legislation, select committee inquiries, consultations, reports and wider sector developments. The role holder will provide the team with regular weekly updates, while quickly flagging significant developments as they happen, analysing developments and identifying opportunities for the Health team and APHG to respond or engage.
  • Supporting the Health team’s external communications: Including developing and coordinating the monthly Health newsletter and producing content for LinkedIn and X. The role holder will be expected to take initiative in identifying timely communications opportunities, drawing on developments across the team’s policy work and the wider health landscape to strengthen the visibility and impact of our work.
  • Maintaining and developing the Health team’s stakeholder database: Ensuring information is accurate and up to date and proactively identifying and adding new relevant contacts across Parliament, government, the NHS, professional bodies, charities, academia, patient organisations and the wider health and care sector.
  • Supporting the work of the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group: Including communicating and building relationships with parliamentarians, policymakers and external stakeholders across the health and care sector.

Person Requirements

Essential

  • Passion for Health policy and interest in Public Health issues.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to independently initiate and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent writing and desk-research skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and present it with concision and clarity.
  • Able to work autonomously and take initiative (i.e. exploiting opportunities and solving problems, while also making considered judgements about how and when to enlist support and guidance from more experienced colleagues).
  • Excellent organisational, time management and project support skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of different stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly develop understanding of new topical areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including confident, professional communication with senior stakeholders, including parliamentarians, clinicians and industry).
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Flexible and adaptable to new and changing contexts (such as political change and working tasks).
  • Willingness to combine policy work with the event logistics and administration the role involves.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
