Our client is looking for an experienced and driven Project Delivery Engineer to join their team in Burnley.

Reporting to the Senior Project Delivery Manager

You will play a key role in delivering projects safely, efficiently and successfully working closely with engineering, fabrication, welding, coating, production and commercial teams to ensure our projects are delivered to the highest standards.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines strong project delivery skills with hands-on fabrication experience and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two projects are the same.

What you'll be doing

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Coordinate and support the successful delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, Coating, Production and Commercial teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Coordinate people, equipment, materials and resources to keep projects on track.
  • Support the development and management of project plans, production schedules and project reporting.
  • Monitor project progress, milestones, dependencies and critical paths, taking action where required.
  • Identify potential issues, risks and delays early and work proactively to resolve them.
  • Manage changes to project scope and support the development of contingency plans where required.
  • Ensure project documentation is completed accurately and on time, working closely with the Engineering team.
  • Communicate project expectations, progress and requirements clearly to internal teams, clients and stakeholders.
  • Produce progress reports, proposals, presentations and other project documentation as required.
  • Deputise for the Senior Project Delivery Manager when required.
  • Lead or support project close-out activities, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve future project delivery.

Fabrication & Technical Experience

Your fabrication experience will be an important part of this role.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have a strong understanding of fabrication operations and manufacturing processes and can confidently work with production and workshop teams.

You will use your technical knowledge to:

  • Understand fabrication requirements, processes and production constraints.
  • Work closely with welding and fabrication teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently.
  • Help identify practical solutions to technical and production challenges.
  • Coordinate the availability of equipment, personnel and materials.
  • Understand how engineering requirements translate into practical fabrication and production activities.
  • Support the identification and resolution of issues that could impact project delivery.

Commercial Support

You will also contribute to the commercial success of our projects by:

  • Monitoring project costs and supporting delivery against agreed budgets and margins.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase revenue and minimise potential margin erosion.
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager with contractual requirements, applications and invoicing.
  • Assisting with project forecasting and month-end reporting.
  • Reviewing project labour and cost information to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Supporting the management of aged debt and unbilled revenue.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who can combine technical knowledge, fabrication experience and strong project delivery skills.

Essential experience

  • Proven experience in project operations and project delivery.
  • Previous experience within a fabrication, welding, manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and workshop operations.
  • Experience coordinating people, equipment, materials and resources.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and margins.
  • Ability to identify problems, make decisions and deliver practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to work with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider project delivery team.

Desirable qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering, Business Studies, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM.
  • Relevant technical or fabrication qualification
