The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Design Engineer to join our growing business. To expand and complement our existing design and project management departments.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team designing Faraday cages and all the accompanying products within the medical and military sectors both within the UK and overseas. The role will be predominantly office-based Monday – Friday, however, flexible working hours or alternative arrangements are negotiable depending on the right candidate.

Role Responsibilities

• Design bespoke solutions while working with customers to ascertain design requirements and product specifications
• Report to the head of engineering, by providing regular updates of your independently run projects with assistance from our project managers
• Be able to balance design work whilst managing ongoing installations
• Be able to carry out dimension checks on fabricated parts and follow quality assurance procedures
• Write job cards to ensure products are made in accordance to your design by liaising with production and site as required
• Be willing to travel to site to conduct surveys, oversee installations, attend meetings, and irregularly stay away from home for short periods of time
• Maintain drawing registers and ensure designs and drawings are checked appropriately
• Communicate and coordinate designs principals and installation methods with other contractors, architects, clients, and site managers
• Finding and working with new suppliers as the project requires, this may include supplier visits to inspect goods or review progress
• Have a broad understanding of manufacturing techniques
• At least 3 years experience in a similar role
• Competent in AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD or similar software
• Be able to read construction drawings, take off relevant information and incorporate these into our designs
• Have the ability to undertake static loading calculations and a knowledge of mechanical fixing methods
• Plan project lead times and installation methods which comply to health and safety standards within the construction industry
• Have held a valid UK driving licence and a UK passport for at least 5 years
• Be eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance, minimum Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)
• Have good written & spoken English and be a clear communicator with good telephone manner
