Project Furniture Residential delivers loose furnishing and interior solutions for sectors such as Build to Rent, PRS, Student Accommodation, and Co-Living. The company specializes in furniture packages supported by in-house procurement, delivery, and installation teams to ensure efficient end-to-end service. Led by industry professionals with over 15 years of experience, the residential team has worked on prestigious developments across Europe. Operating under Project Group alongside Project Studio, Project Interiors, and Project ff&e, the company creates integrated, design-led spaces. Its services span creative design, furnishing, fit-out, supply chain management, and ongoing project aftercare.

Role Description

The Project Designer is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing design concepts for residential interiors, preparing and reviewing construction drawings, and creating detailed space plans aligned with client requirements and brand standards. The role involves coordinating design submittals, collaborating with procurement and installation teams, and supporting project management activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. The Project Designer will also participate in client meetings, prepare presentations and documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Qualifications/Key Skills

  • Ability to prepare and manage submittals, including design documentation, specifications, and presentation packages.
  • Proficiency in creating and interpreting construction drawings, with strong attention to technical detail and buildability.
  • Experience in space planning for residential environments, focusing on functionality, aesthetics, and efficient furniture layout.
  • Background in interior design or interior architecture, with understanding of regulations and design best practices.
  • Project management skills to coordinate timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Relevant degree or qualification in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) and MS Office.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage client expectations.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Previous experience in residential furnishing, fit-out, hospitality, or property-related design sectors is an advantage.

Key Skills

  • Available to travel to sites and meetings as required.
  • Full Driving License.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/ Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe CC, and MS Office. Proficiencies in other design software are beneficial.
  • Be able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team, across multiple projects and to mentor and guide junior designers along the way.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to senior stakeholders including Director/Board Level.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
  • Be able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-moving environment.
  • Be proactive, flexible, and have a can-do attitude to the role.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Be a team player, willing to support and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Punctual and organized.
