Project Director

London / Hybrid
£90,000 - £120,000 + car allowance + bonus + benefits
Permanent

We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitious senior project professional to step into a high-profile Project Director position, taking strategic responsibility for a major, long-term capital investment programme.

You will lead an established multidisciplinary team delivering a substantial portfolio of projects across multiple locations, working closely with senior client stakeholders and an experienced management team.

Rather than personally managing individual projects, your focus will be on the bigger picture: leading the account, developing the team, strengthening the client relationship and driving commercial and operational performance across the programme.

It could suit an existing Project Director looking for a fresh challenge or a high-performing Associate Director ready to take the next step in their career.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will take overall responsibility for the successful performance and development of the account, leading through an established team of senior managers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction across a large, multidisciplinary capital programme
  • Leading, developing and supporting an established management team
  • Acting as a trusted senior adviser to the client and building strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Maintaining oversight of a substantial portfolio of projects across multiple locations
  • Taking responsibility for the commercial and financial performance of the account
  • Protecting and developing an important, long-standing client relationship
  • Driving greater pace, accountability and consistency across the programme
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, performance and value for the client
  • Using data, digital systems and KPIs to drive measurable improvements
  • Championing continuous improvement and encouraging better ways of working
  • Maintaining excellent standards across health, safety, risk and governance
  • Identifying appropriate opportunities to develop the account and wider client relationship
  • Representing the programme at senior leadership level within the wider business

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We are looking for a credible and commercially minded leader who can operate strategically while remaining close enough to the programme to understand where improvements can be made.

You are likely to have experience within a construction consultancy or client-side programme environment and will be able to demonstrate:

  • Leadership of complex, multidisciplinary programmes or portfolios
  • Experience working within high-volume, multi-project environments
  • Successful leadership and development of senior managers and professional teams
  • Strong senior-level client and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial responsibility, ideally including P&L or account performance
  • A track record of delivering measurable improvements, efficiencies or cost savings
  • The ability to identify issues early and implement practical solutions
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, risk and governance
  • Experience using management information, digital tools and KPIs to improve performance
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • A relevant construction, engineering, technical or project/programme management background

Experience of major capital investment programmes would be particularly beneficial.

You will be proactive, commercially aware and solutions-focused, with the confidence to challenge where necessary while maintaining strong relationships.

You should be comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and creating momentum, while remaining collaborative and approachable.

This is a rare opportunity to take strategic ownership of a substantial, established programme without having to build an account from scratch.

You will inherit an experienced team and established client relationship, while having the autonomy to shape its future direction and performance.

For an ambitious Associate Director, it provides a genuine opportunity to step into Project Director-level responsibility. For an established Project Director, it offers the scale, autonomy and senior client exposure to make a meaningful impact.

The position is London-based with hybrid working, with approximately three days per week spent working alongside the team and client.
