Project Director High Voltage Infrastructure
Role Overview
Lead major HV projects from pre-construction to energisation
We're working with a well-established, growing specialist in high voltage electrical infrastructure, and we're looking for an experienced Project Director to take ownership of a portfolio of large-scale projects valued at £10 million and above.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys running major projects end to end, from strategy and commercial control through to energisation and handover. You'll have the authority to shape how projects are delivered, the backing of a senior leadership team, and a large multidisciplinary team to lead.
What you'll be doing
- Providing executive leadership across multiple HV projects and programmes, with full P&L accountability
- Setting delivery strategies, execution plans and governance frameworks
- Taking overall responsibility for safety, quality, programme and commercial performance
- Overseeing budgets, forecasts, margins, cash flow, variations, claims and compensation events
- Acting as the senior point of contact for clients, network operators, consultants and regulators
- Leading and mentoring Senior Project Managers, Project, Construction, Engineering and Commissioning Managers, QS and Quality teams
- Championing a zero-harm culture and compliance with CDM, Electricity at Work Regulations and network operator specifications
- Stepping in to stabilise challenging projects and bring them back on track

What we're looking for

- At least 5 years' experience in the UK HV electrical infrastructure sector
- A proven track record delivering projects or programmes of £10m+
- Extensive experience across ICP, DNO, IDNO and transmission-level environments
- Strong technical knowledge of 132kV substations, cable systems, grid and generation connections, and industrial/commercial HV infrastructure
- Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams
- A background in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline
- A full UK driving licence
Nice to have
- CEng, APM ChPP, PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner
- IOSH or NEBOSH
- Membership of the IET, APM or a similar professional body
