Project Director - Battery Storage (BESS) | Construction & Commissioning

Want to make an application Make sure your CV is up to date, then read the following job specs carefully before applying.

Contract | Outside IR35 | UK-based with site travel | Full UK Working Rights Required

Several live battery storage projects. One senior leader to own them end to end.

This is a hands-on delivery role for a Project Director who can run a multi-site BESS construction and commissioning portfolio from mobilisation through to energisation, testing and handover and make sure programme, cost and reporting never slip out of view.

You'll be the senior point of accountability across the portfolio: holding contractors and suppliers to their milestones, challenging slippage before it becomes a problem, and giving the business a clear, honest picture of where every project actually stands versus where it's forecast to land.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Own

  • Full delivery accountability across a multi-project BESS construction portfolio programme, commercial performance, quality and safety
  • Integrated programme control from construction through energisation, commissioning and handover
  • Commercial oversight: budgets, forecast final cost, variations, contractor claims and cash flow
  • Senior-level reporting into board, investor and lender stakeholders, cutting through noise to what needs a decision
  • Direct management of site-based project managers and the interface with principal contractors, BESS suppliers, and grid/DNO counterparties

What You'll Bring

  • A strong track record delivering complex power, energy or infrastructure projects through construction and commissioning
  • Proven accountability for multiple concurrent projects or a major multi-workstream programme
  • Sharp commercial instincts, cost forecasting, change control, contractor claims and delay exposure aren't new territory
  • Confidence to challenge contractors and internal stakeholders at senior level, backed by evidence
  • Degree-level qualification in engineering, construction or project management (or equivalent experience); chartered status (APM, PMI, CIOB, ICE, IET or similar) is a plus, not a gate
