Project Director – HVDC & Major Energy Infrastructure
Location: Remote in the UK, with travel to Scotland
Market leading salary, dependent on experience + bonus + car allowance

Turner Lovell is recruiting an experienced Project Director on behalf of our client, a global engineering, procurement and construction business delivering HVDC, electricity grid and power projects worldwide.
You will take ownership of a substantial EPC contract, leading its execution, financial performance and customer relationship. This is a role for an established director who can set direction, make sound decisions under pressure and maintain a firm grasp of delivery. The ideal experience is someone who has delivered end to end experience as a Project Director.
HVDC experience is highly valued. However, we also welcome accomplished directors from power generation, offshore energy and other complex infrastructure projects with a substantial electrical scope. This offers an opportunity to bring your major-project experience and gain HVDC know-how, supported by an international engineering and technology organisation.

Your remit
- Set the execution strategy and lead engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and contractual close-out.
- Own project financial performance, controlling budgets, margin, cash flow, variations, claims and commercial risk.
- Lead the multidisciplinary team, aligning engineering, project controls, commercial and site teams with suppliers and delivery partners.
- Manage the senior customer relationship, negotiate solutions and resolve issues while protecting contractual commitments.
- Deliver against safety, quality and programme targets, maintaining control of critical interfaces, milestones and emerging risks.
What you will bring
- An established record of personally leading major EPC or turnkey projects through completion, typically at £500m+ scale, with clear accountability for the contract or scope under your control.
- Experience delivering HVDC or complex energy infrastructure with a strong electrical component, bringing together electrical, mechanical and civil disciplines.
- Substantial contractor-side execution experience, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and customer acceptance.
- Strong financial and contractual judgement, with practical experience of P&L management, negotiations, change control and claims.
- Effective project controls and risk management, with NEC experience particularly relevant to UK delivery and FIDIC knowledge valuable.
- Credible, decisive leadership: able to challenge constructively, develop people and remain composed when delivery comes under pressure.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, and fluent English.
- Recognised project management certification is important.
- You will be based in the UK or willing to relocate, with regular travel to project teams, customers and sites, particularly in Scotland, alongside international travel.
