The Opportunity
Skilled Careers are working with a highly established, privately owned London contractor to appoint a Project Director for a flagship £70m CAT B commercial fit-out scheme in Mayfair.
The successful Project Director will join during the back end of a pre-construction phase, taking overall responsibility for the project through mobilisation, construction and final handover.
This is a significant senior appointment within a business with an excellent reputation for delivering complex, high-value projects across Central London.
The Contractor
The business is a long-established and financially secure contractor specialising in commercial fit-out, refurbishment, cut & carve and technically complex structural projects.
A significant proportion of its workload is generated through repeat business and long-standing client relationships, providing a strong and sustainable pipeline of negotiated and two-stage opportunities.

The Role
As Project Director, you will take overall responsibility for the £70m scheme, including:
- Leading the project cradle to grave
- Overall responsibility for programme, delivery, quality and health & safety
- Leading and developing the operational project team
- Managing senior client, consultant and stakeholder relationships
- Working closely with commercial, design and pre-construction teams
- Driving subcontractor performance and procurement strategy
- Maintaining commercial awareness and protecting project performance
- Reporting directly into the senior leadership team
- Ensuring successful delivery through to practical completion and handover
The Candidate
We are looking for an established Project Director, or a high-performing Senior Project Manager ready to make the step into a Project Director position.

Candidates should ideally have:
- A strong main contracting or specialist fit-out background
- Experience delivering major CAT A / CAT B commercial fit-out, refurbishment or cut & carve projects
- Previous responsibility for projects in the £50m+ range
- Strong knowledge of the Central London commercial market
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to lead sizeable operational and subcontractor teams
- Strong commercial, programme and technical awareness
- Experience becoming involved during PCSA / pre-construction and carrying a project through delivery
Package
£120,000 + Up to 20% Bonus, dependent on experience, plus a comprehensive package.
