Project Engineers – Nuclear

Role Overview

CCL Global is seeking an experienced Project Engineers to support a major UK nuclear programme at Dungeness.

The role will provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements definition and concept design through detailed design, construction, commissioning/decommissioning and final handover. The position would suit a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with project engineering experience gained within nuclear or another highly regulated industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs.
  • Support Project Execution Plans, including design, safety case and commissioning strategies.
  • Support optioneering and development of fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
  • Produce and/or approve technical specifications.
  • Manage detailed design activities in accordance with design authority requirements.
  • Prepare engineering modification proposals and act as Nominated Responsible Engineer where appointed.
  • Review contractor work instructions, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical supervision during construction and deconstruction activities.
  • Review and approve as-built drawings.
  • Support commissioning and/or decommissioning activities.
  • Manage engineering handover to systems and operations teams.
  • Liaise with System Engineers and wider project stakeholders.
  • Maintain configuration control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

  • HNC, degree or equivalent NQF Level 5/6 engineering qualification.
  • Practical Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience on industrial plant.
  • Nuclear and/or conventional project engineering experience.
  • Understanding of relevant engineering standards.
  • Strong understanding of engineering safety, quality and compliance requirements.

Desirable

  • Nuclear Safety Rules and risk assessment knowledge.
  • Site Licence and Quality Management System experience.
  • CDM Designer knowledge.
  • Contract management and project delivery experience.
  • Membership of a relevant Engineering Institution.
  • Chartered status.
