Project Engineer – Power T&D
United Infrastructure Power T&D are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major overhead lines project in Scotland.
The role will support the successful delivery of assigned work packages by helping to manage scope, programme, cost, risk and stakeholder requirements, while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project and client expectations.
Role Overview
As Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to coordinate the engineering and delivery of a range of work packages across the project lifecycle.
You will provide the link between engineering, construction, commercial, planning, subcontractors and the client, helping to ensure that technical requirements are clearly understood and that works are delivered in accordance with programme, budget and quality expectations.
The role would suit someone with a strong technical or project delivery background who is looking to progress further within major Power Transmission & Distribution projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager with the delivery of assigned work packages across the project.
- Coordinate engineering, construction, commercial and planning activities to ensure project requirements are fully aligned.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
- Monitor project scope, programme, cost and risk and escalate issues where required.
- Work closely with the Commercial team to ensure operational and commercial matters are fully aligned.
- Support the development and maintenance of project programmes, ensuring progress and future activities are accurately reflected.
- Coordinate technical information, drawings, design deliverables and construction requirements across project teams.
- Support the review and resolution of technical queries and RFIs.
- Assist with the preparation and issue of project correspondence in line with contractual requirements.
- Contribute to execution plans, construction strategies and future phases of the project.
- Support design reviews and ensure design information is suitable for construction.
- Coordinate interfaces between designers, construction teams, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Attend project, progress, technical and stakeholder meetings as required.
- Support project reporting, including progress, risk, programme and delivery updates.
- Maintain strong engagement with clients and key stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Ensure works are undertaken in accordance with company procedures, client requirements and relevant health, safety, quality and environmental standards.

About You
You will ideally have:
- A degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Site Engineer or similar project delivery role.
- Experience supporting the delivery of construction, infrastructure, utilities or engineering projects.
- Strong coordination and organisational skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multiple project interfaces.
- Good understanding of project planning, cost control, risk and project reporting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across engineering, construction, commercial and project management teams.
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify and resolve project issues.

Desirable Experience
- Previous Power Transmission & Distribution experience.
- Experience supporting overhead line projects.
- Experience working with transmission or distribution network operators.
- Civil engineering or enabling works experience.
- Experience working on multi-million-pound infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts.
- Experience working within a live construction environment.
The Project
You will be joining a significant overhead lines project supporting the continued expansion and reinforcement of the UK electricity transmission network.
