Project Design Engineer
We are recruiting for a Project Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business delivering bespoke industrial systems and turnkey projects. This is a varied, hands-on role offering involvement throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial customer engagement and site surveys through to design, manufacture, and installation.
The Role
As a Project Design Engineer, you will work closely with customers, manufacturing teams, and installation engineers to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing engineering designs and layouts using 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor.
- Conducting site visits, surveys, and customer consultations to gather project requirements.
- Developing practical engineering solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to support installation activities.
- Liaising closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are fit for production.
- Monitoring project progress and supporting successful delivery from concept through to installation.
- Utilising ERP and project management systems to plan, track, and manage project activities.
- Providing technical support to internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have:
- Strong CAD skills (Open 3D software – Inventor preferable but will consider Solidworks, Creo etc.
- This role would suit a Junior with 2 years' experience or someone senior with 5 + years' experience
- Practical understanding of fabrication, manufacturing, or sheet metal processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to interact directly with customers and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good IT skills and the ability to quickly adopt new software and systems.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to engineering challenges.
