We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex marine and subsea equipment projects. This is a hands-on, project-focused engineering role, ideal for a well-rounded professional who enjoys working across design, production, and commissioning stages.
You’ll play a key part in integrating systems, driving design reviews, and ensuring successful delivery of innovative subsea solutions. This would be an initial 6 month contract, outside of IR35, working on a hybrid basis in Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a bridge between Project Management and Engineering, working independently to coordinate technical activities.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, respond to Technical Queries, and maintain action trackers across engineering teams.
- Field project-related questions on system integration and interfaces, ensuring clear communication between internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Liaise across multiple functions - Production, Purchasing, Commissioning, Quality, and Finance - to ensure project milestones are met.
- Develop and review core engineering documents, including:
- Design directives and standards
- Test, commissioning, and installation procedures
- Oversee aspects of fabrication, assembly, testing, and paint, ensuring quality and adherence to engineering requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
