PROJECT ENGINEER - COATING
Organisation Information:
Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’ Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion. Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale. Bylor have already broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m3 of concrete.
Purpose of the role:
A Project Engineer is to support the Senior Project Manager in the co-ordination and delivery of Stage 1 Coating Project activities.
- Drive productivity across Stage 1 coatings through effective schedule adherence, cluster working co-ordination and resource allocation tracking.
- Work closely with Stakeholders and the site team to improve the workflow efficiency and overall project performance.
- Monitor coating activities to identify potential blockers, delays or risks and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain project reports, progress and delivery tracking information.
- Assist with site Co-ordination, technical queries (RFI's) and project close out activities.
- Support the readiness and enabling of work fronts to allow coating activities to commence efficiently.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
- Managing an engineering team assigned to a building/s to create and sustain a culture of “right first time” while adhering to Nuclear Safety
- Responsible for ensuring all site operations are controlled by safe systems of work defined within internally and externally approved method statements, risk assessments, task sheets and procedures.
- Managing the engineering team in the process of completing the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)
- Drive productivity across Stage 1 coatings through effective schedule adherence, cluster working co-ordination and resource allocation tracking.
- Manage stakeholders, subcontractors, client
- Works with procurement to ensure the most appropriate materials, product, plant and systems are purchased for the project ensuring programme delays are avoided.
- Evaluates alternative solutions to determine if they are more effective than current methods
Essential skills & knowledge:
Technical Skills:
- 5 years + experience of civil engineering roles or large complex projects
- Coating experience
- Experience of managing people in project environments
- Must have experience working as a Temporary Works Coordinator

Education & Qualifications
- Must hold a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Additional Information:
- All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance Some grades will also include a company car allowance.
- Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset. Somerset boasts beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages along with easy access to the M5 and within proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.
