A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Project Engineer at Materials Solutions in Worcester, you will play a crucial role in defining methods for our manufacturing processes within the additive manufacturing business. You will work closely with technical and engineering personnel on new product development, ensuring that quality standards are met while upholding health and safety requirements. Your day will involve problem-solving issues that arise in manufacturing, documenting any deviations in processes, and supporting the resolution of daily production challenges.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Follow defined techniques, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and processes to ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • Collaborate with technical and engineering teams on new product development and processes.
  • Contribute to problem-solving efforts for manufacturing issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development of components using the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
  • Provide engineering support for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, including hosting cross-functional sessions and facilitating APQP activities such as risk assessments, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and control plan development.
  • Create and maintain quality plans, part structures for operational flow, and technical manufacturing instructions, ensuring conformance to customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Lead root cause investigations of manufacturing issues and document lessons learned.
  • Maintain technical ownership of development, pre-serial, and serial production products, including the disposition of product deviations and maintaining yield requirements.

What You Bring

  • Working knowledge of new product introduction methodologies and experience in delivering validation packages to external customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and drawings, providing flow-down requirements to manufacturing teams.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools such as 3C and 8D.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Methodical, self-motivated, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in high-volume production manufacturing and running development programs.
