Structural Engineer
We are looking for a Structural Engineer with approximately two years of post-graduate consultancy experience to join our team.
The role is designed for an engineer who has developed a solid grounding in structural design and is ready to take increasing ownership of smaller projects and design packages, while continuing to develop their technical expertise and progress towards professional qualification.
This is a 100% office - and site - based role. The position does not offer hybrid or remote working.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Design: Undertake structural calculations, analysis and design for a range of building structures and structural elements, with appropriate support and technical review from senior engineers.
- Increasing Responsibility: Take ownership of defined structural packages and smaller projects, from initial concept through detailed design and construction support.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare calculation packages, design reports, specifications, sketches and other technical documentation to a high professional standard.
- Drawing & Model Coordination: Produce structural sketches, details and models, working closely with technicians and other members of the design team.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Liaise with architects, M&E consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders to resolve design and coordination issues.
- Site Experience: Attend site visits, surveys and structural inspections, developing practical knowledge of construction methods and existing structures.
- Professional Development: Work towards professional qualification through an appropriate IStructE or ICE training agreement, with support and mentoring from senior engineers.
- Technical Development: Continue to develop knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, structural materials and industry best practice.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential
- BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Approximately 2 years' professional experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
- A sound understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to undertake routine structural calculations with appropriate supervision.
- Working knowledge of relevant Eurocodes and UK Building Regulations.
- Experience using structural design software such as TEDDS and/or Tekla Structural Designer.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive approach to learning, problem-solving and professional development.
- Actively progressing towards professional qualification through an IStructE or ICE training scheme.
- Experience preparing building condition reports.

Desirable
- Experience undertaking site surveys, structural inspections or construction-stage support.
- Experience with a range of structural materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
- Knowledge of below-ground drainage design.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
